The anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal properties of cork prevent green slimy growth that would normally develop on your cutting trays and pots. This has the added benefit of reducing attacks from the two types of jumping insects, Sciarid and Shore Fly. These insects collect debris from the additional growths on the surface of the compost. Using the cork gives you a much cleaner surface so the insects have nothing to feed on.

We can send cork with plants purchased for delivery by mail, or place a click and collect order and pick up in our nursery shop.

2 Litres when packed, Contents may settle over time.

Read how Rosy and the propagation team use cork at Hardy's nursery →

Use cork for covering seed trays or as a decorative dressing for your potted plants.

Replace vermiculate with a more environmentally friendly product which has anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal properties.

Sprinkle a very thin layer of 4-5 mm cork over seeds which have yet to germinate.

The size of cork granule prevents a crust forming, allowing the newly germinated seeds to push through easily. This will: keep the pot or seed tray surface clean; reduce scariad fly (fungus gnat) attacks; lead to less dampening off and fewer losses.
