During the summer the leaves are green, it has bronze stems and panicles of pale pink flowers from July – August, which fade to white. It produces a tap root that requires, deep, fertile and consistently moist soil. Plant it near streams and ponds or in areas that don’t drain quickly, for instance partially shaded or shaded, clay soils along woodland edges. Rodgersia can be planted in full sun but if the soil becomes too dry the leaves may scorch.
