Salvia ‘Indigo Spires’ produces tall, branching spikes of deep indigo-purple flowers on purple stems clothed with mid-green foliage from late summer into autumn — a valuable late-season perennial that keeps the border looking good when many other plants are winding down.
An excellent container plant combined with tawny orange Dahlias, or use it in a border with Verbena bonariensis and vivid red Dahlia for a bold late-summer combination. It performs best in full sun in a light, well-drained, fertile soil.
