Symphyotrichum ericoides ‘Pink Cloud’ produces masses of small, pale lilac-pink flowers with rich yellow centres, held in open sprays on robust stems with narrow, dark green leaves. Exceptionally prolific and long-flowering, it delivers a sustained display through autumn and is a favourite with florists for its delicate, airy cut stems. Highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
Well suited to planting in drifts towards the front of a cottage garden border, it also combines beautifully with ornamental grasses — particularly those with rich orange or purple autumn colour. Notably tolerant of airborne salt and drier conditions than most Symphyotrichum, it is an excellent choice for coastal gardens. It thrives in free-draining, moderately fertile soil in full sun.
