Pollinator Friendly

Helleborus × hybridus ‘Amalia’ (ViV Series) is a double hellebore bearing large, bright white flowers that surround a lime-green centre. The blooms evolve beautifully through the season, fading first to cream and then to soft green as spring progresses — providing months of interest from late autumn through to early spring.

The leathery green foliage offers year-round structure. Well suited to partially shaded and shaded positions, it performs equally well in containers and in beds and borders. Its nectar-rich flowers are a valuable early resource for winter pollinators.

  • Care Guide

    As 'Amalia' is an early-flowering cultivar, watch for flower buds developing from autumn onwards. Remove any damaged, diseased, or tatty leaves at this point, then remove the remaining foliage entirely as the buds develop — this improves the display and helps prevent hellebore leaf spot. Mulch around the base with organic matter after removing the leaves. In spring, remove the old flowering stems.

    Long-lived and generally trouble-free once established; tolerates shade and heavy clay soils. Resistant to deer and rabbits.
