Hesperantha coccinea ‘Oregon Sunset’ is a vigorous, clump-forming perennial that brings rich coral-red flowers — up to 4cm across and arranged on the stem in a similar fashion to Gladiolus — from August through to November. An invaluable plant for late-season colour, and an excellent cut flower with strong, sturdy stems.
Bred at Gossler Farms Nursery in Oregon, it originates from South Africa and thrives in consistently moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Hardy to -10°C, it benefits from a sheltered position and a dry mulch over the crown in autumn. Rabbit resistant and generally pest and disease free.
