Hylotelephium telephium (Atropurpureum Group) ‘Karfunkelstein’ is an excellent front-of-border sedum, producing dense clusters of dark pinky-red starry flowers on strong wine-red stems above succulent greenish-purple leaves in late summer and into autumn.
In spring, rosettes of smoky pale purple-green leaves emerge — a beautiful contrast with purple tulips — before darkening as the clump builds. The dark pink buds open to star-like flowers from late summer into autumn. It thrives in any reasonable soil in full sun.
