Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ is a late-flowering ornamental onion from North America that takes over the display baton from Allium ‘Millennium’, blooming three to four weeks later and lasting into early autumn. Its spherical flowerheads are a deeper, dustier purple than many alliums, carried above spreading clumps of attractive blue-green foliage that fill out well over time.
Tolerant of full sun and poor, free-draining soil, it is well suited to rock and gravel gardens, where it looks particularly effective planted in loose, informal drifts. Its nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant, and drought tolerant once established; the flowers also dry well.
