Lathyrus vernus ‘Dama Duet’ — commonly known as Spring Vetchling — produces purple standards with a mauve keel in spring, above a neat clump of pinnate foliage. One of the earliest perennials to flower, it is a reliable and undemanding plant that quietly gets on with the job year after year.
It thrives in humus-rich, moist but free-draining soil in sun or dappled shade — a superb under-planter for shrubs and roses, and equally well suited to the front of a border or bed. It can be divided in early spring to increase your stock.
Please note: all parts of this plant are toxic.
