Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Dark pink buds open to petite two-toned blooms — pink standards with white keels — in spring, above a neat mound of pinnate foliage. One of the earliest perennials to flower, Lathyrus vernus is a reliable and undemanding plant that quietly gets on with the job year after year.
It thrives in humus-rich, moist but free-draining soil and grows equally well in dappled shade beneath trees and shrubs as in a sunny position — making it a useful choice for tricky spots. It can be divided in early spring to increase your stock.
