Sprays of delicate lilac flowers emerge from small spherical buds throughout summer, carried on tall burgundy stems above green, pinnate foliage — elegant and airy in equal measure.
A favourite with florists and a strong architectural presence at the back of a border. Grows well in sun or partial shade in any good, moisture-retentive soil. May need support in exposed positions.
