Phlox divaricata ‘Clouds of Perfume’ is a woodland phlox valued above all for its fragrance — the pale lilac-blue flowers carry a sweet, pervasive scent that carries well on still spring air. Borne in loose clusters in late spring above neat, oval mid-green leaves, the blooms are delicate in appearance but generous in number.
Slowly spreading to form clumps of semi-evergreen foliage, it is well suited to partial shade in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil. An excellent choice for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and underplanting beneath shrubs and roses, where it makes effective and attractive ground cover.
