Artemisia ludoviciana ‘Valerie Finnis’ is among the finest silver-foliaged perennials for a sunny border — almost bright silver-white when young, the leaves shimmer in sunlight and hold their colour well through the season. Small yellow flowers appear in summer but add little to the display; removing them keeps the focus on that remarkable foliage.
Named in honour of Valerie Finnis, the celebrated plantswoman and photographer, this Artemisia spreads steadily at the base and benefits from dividing every few years to keep it compact and vigorous. It thrives in full sun in well-drained soil, and is particularly well suited to coastal, Mediterranean, and gravel garden settings.
