Astrantia ‘Roma’ is valued for its soft, clear pink blooms and exceptionally long flowering season — producing a steady succession of flowers throughout summer and often well into autumn. A classic of the cottage garden border, it sits equally at home in more formal planting schemes.
It combines particularly well with allium bulbs, whose fading lower leaves are neatly concealed by the Astrantia’s lush basal foliage. Excellent for the middle of the border, it forms substantial clumps at a good pace. It thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in sun or partial shade.
