Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Delightful vibrant cherry-red flowers with a striped red and white throat appear throughout summer. Penstemon 'Cherry' is a clump-forming upright perennial with glossy green, narrow leaves.
Very flexible as to soil type, providing it is not too moist — it would look equally at home in a hot border or a gravel garden. Deadhead regularly to encourage more flowers. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before winter; leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. Softwood cuttings can be taken during summer.
