This bushy semi-evergreen Penstemon blooms throughout summer and well into autumn. Upright stems bear tubular dark blue to purple flowers with pink-flushed throats, above linear, lance-shaped glossy green foliage.
Deadhead regularly to encourage further flowering. Softwood cuttings can be taken during summer. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before winter — in spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard. Happy in any fertile, moisture-retentive, free-draining soil, in sun or dappled shade.
