Ligularia 'Bottle Rocket' PBR
Height x Spread: 70 - 90cm x 60 - 75cm
A compact sport of Ligularia 'Little Rocket', this is a fully hardy lover of consistently moist and fertile soil. It can cope in full sun or partial shade as long as it is not allowed to dry out.
The dramatic foliage is large, deep green and has serrated edges. The chocolatey brown flower spikes appear from June/July and stand up to 90cm tall. They hold masses of rich yellow star shaped flowers from the tip all the way down to the foliage.
Bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators love the flowers ; cutting back spent stems will keep the flowers coming.
Once established the plant can be divided in spring every few years. L. 'Little Rocket' looks wonderful mass planted. It also teams up well with Hostas, Ferns, Gunnera, Actaea, Rodgersia, Polemonium, Tricyrtis and Liatris.
A great addition to rain, shade, woodland, bog and pondside gardens. It can also be used to great effect in large containers.
