Getting Here by Car

Hardy's is within easy reach of Winchester, Newbury, Andover and Basingstoke (all under 25 minutes), and around 47 minutes from Salisbury.

Sat-nav: Use postcode RG28 7NJ — this takes you to the bottom of our road where you'll find our brown sign. (Our newer postcode RG28 7FA may not route correctly.)

From the South (Andover, Salisbury, Southampton, Winchester)

  1. Take the Whitchurch slip road off the A34 and follow Winchester Street into Whitchurch town centre (~1 mile).
  2. At the mini-roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Newbury Street (signed Newbury/A34 northbound).
  3. Almost immediately (~25 yards), turn right onto the B3400 London Street (signed Overton & Basingstoke). The White Hart Hotel will be on your left.
  4. Continue along the B3400 through Wells-in-the-Field and into Freefolk. Look for our brown sign — take the first left after the Freefolk sign.
  5. Turn left onto Priory Lane, pass the Watership Down Pub and the last houses, then turn right into our entrance (~200 yards).

From the North (Newbury)

  1. Exit the A34 at the Litchfield slip road (signed Whitchurch) and follow the old A34 for 3 miles into town.
  2. Coming down Newbury Road, just before the mini-roundabout turn left onto the B3400 London Street (signed Overton & Basingstoke). The White Hart Hotel will be on your left.
  3. Continue along the B3400 through Wells-in-the-Field and into Freefolk. Look for our brown sign — take the first left after the Freefolk sign.
  4. Turn left onto Priory Lane, pass the Watership Down Pub and the last houses, then turn right into our entrance (~200 yards).

Getting Here by Public Transport

The nearest train stations are Overton and Whitchurch, both in Hampshire, served by South Western Railway on the Basingstoke–Salisbury line.

For the easiest journey, catch the No. 76 bus from Basingstoke train station, which stops directly at Freefolk/Laverstoke — no need to change.

If you enjoy walking, you can also pick up the bus from either train station:

  • From Whitchurch station, it's a 14-minute downhill walk to the bus stop.
  • From Overton station, it's a 19-minute walk into Overton village to the bus stop.

Take the Stagecoach No. 76 bus and alight at one of two stops, both an easy walk to the nursery:

  • Wells in the Field stop — approx. 6-minute walk (use this stop if travelling from Whitchurch direction)
  • Manor Cottages stop — approx. 5-minute walk (use this stop if travelling from Overton/Basingstoke direction)
