Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'Black Barlow'
Height x Spread: 90cm x 30cm
This is one of the wonderful double flowered forms of columbine, where the flowers have no spurs but have numerous petals creating almost spherical flowers in spring. 'Black Barlow' is deliciously dark and really stands out mixed with whites, pale lemons or jewel colours such as lime greens and oranges.
Using them as cut flowers is possible and they make good plants for a part shady border in most soil types, as long as they are not too wet. A short lived perennial requiring replanting every 3-4 years to give you good plants.
Available for Mail Order from April - August
