Filipendula rubra 'Venusta'

Tiny candy floss pink flowers with long stamens give this perennial's flower plumes a very elegant fluffy appearance. The flowers are held at the top of very tall, strong stems which arise from a mound of cut leaves at the base of the plant.

These are plants that require a lot of moisture and are at home in a bog garden situation, but will grow in a normal border if in a fertile moisture-retentive soil. They are the perfect plant for the back of the border, not requiring any staking, giving a beautiful splash of colour in late summer. They will make large clumps and are wonderful if you have heavier soils, in a partially shady position.
