Geranium nodosum 'Clos de Coudray'
Height x Spread: 30cm x 45cm
Small violet purple trumpet-shaped flowers with reddish purple veins and pale edges are held in sprays above mounds of dark green glossy foliage. The contrast of vivid silky colour and leathery leaves is quite magical, adding subtlety and texture to a dry shade border.
Much used by designers for its graceful spreading habit, it provides attractive ground cover to 'difficult' areas of the garden such as underplanting beech trees. It is also remains evergreen in all but the hardest winters. An unfussy Geranium it can tolerate dry shade and will grow in most moderately fertile soils that are not too damp. It can also cope with a more sunny location.
