Commonly known as Purple Toadflax, Linaria purpurea is a bushy perennial that is native to Italy. Erect stems are smothered in green/grey narrow leaves with purple flower spikes appearing during summer. Purple Toadflax often self-seeds freely.
Well-drained soils are required with a sandy soil type being preferred. South-facing situations are ideal as this perennial likes to bask in the sun. Great for your borders and beds as well as costal locations. To avoid Linaria purpurea self-seeding across your garden simply cut back the flower spike when the blooms have finished.
