Maianthemum racemosum
Height x Spread: 75cm x 50cm
Flowering in spring, this highly scented form of 'False Solomon's Seal' produces dense clusters of very fluffy, small, creamy white flowers at the ends of slightly arching stems with alternate, glossy, mid green oval leaves that are deeply veined. The flowers are followed by berries.
This is a great plant for the shade as it combines bold and interesting foliage with very striking flowers. Plant it where you will enjoy its sweet fragrance most, such as close to a path or seating area. It performs best in part to full shade in a lime free, fairly fertile and humus-rich soil, that is well drained but retains some moisture, especially in the summer.
Synonym: Smilacina racemosa.
