Plantago major 'Rubrifolia'

Commonly known as Purple-Leaved Plantain, 'Rubrifolia' is a mat-forming perennial. Large purple textured leaves form a mat at the base of the plant. Brown flower spikes appear during the summer, however these are insignificant compared with the stunning coloured foliage.
A compact grower which will thrive in any soil, in particular poor quality soils, it is also happy in any aspect. It is a very handy low maintenance perennial which can be used towards the front of your beds, as ground cover, for underplanting or edging.
