Stokesia laevis 'Klaus Jelitto'
Height x Spread: 45cm x 50cm
Lots of large, lilac blue cornflower-type flowers with frilled petals are carried on upright stems with spear-shaped mid green foliage. Commonly known as 'Stokes' Aster', this was one of our most popular plants last summer. The intense blue flowers are quite mesmerising and so pretty. Just keep deadheading it to promote further flowering.
Ideal for the front of a cottage garden border or as edging along a path, it also looks wonderful planted in large drifts. Alternatively grow it in containers around a favourite seating area, where you can watch the butterflies flock to it. If a severe winter is threatened, mulch deeply with dry matter in autumn. It performs best in a fertile, free draining soil that retains some moisture, but is not overly wet in winter. Avoid heavy, moist soils.
