Gently arching sprays of lavender-blue daisies with yellow centres dance on almost-black, upright stems with narrow, dark green foliage. This elegant perennial is perfect for adding a light, airy layer of colour at the back of a border, combining beautifully with ornamental grasses and prairie-inspired planting.
A magnet for bees and butterflies, it cuts well for arrangements and is mildew resistant. Thrives in free-draining, reasonably fertile soil in full sun. Cut back in autumn. Grown peat-free.
Syn. Symphyotrichum turbinellum (misapplied)

Care Guide:
Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour — any time after flowering but spring is preferred. Cut back stems after flowering in autumn. Taller selections may require staking. Symphyotrichum novi-belgii cultivars benefit from good air circulation to help prevent mildew.
