Spikes of delicate shell-pink flowers with frilly-edged petals are held high on sturdy, branching stems above mid-green, scalloped basal foliage — a classic cottage garden plant that flowers profusely throughout summer. Cut spent stems to the ground after the first flush to encourage a second.
It provides valuable vertical structure in a herbaceous border without overpowering its neighbours. The soft pink tones combine beautifully with dusky purples, soft blues and deeper pinks. Thrives in light, fairly fertile, free-draining soil with some moisture retention, in full sun or light shade.
