Cut Flowers From the Garden: Late-Season Arrangement Ideas
Share
If you've visited us for a talk or tour during the year, you may have seen some flowers in vases or jam jars. Most of these blooms come from plants that are coming towards the end of their season and are being prepared for potting. They joyfully demonstrate how you can bring the garden into your home.
Not all of the plants in the arrangements are listed, and not all are available via our website. Some are only found in the nursery shop.
Here are a couple of our most recent arrangements, and you'll find many of these flowering now.

This is a striking arrangement of blooms that you may find flowering now:
- Dahlia 'Christopher Taylor' (red flower, foreground)
- Verbena bonariensis (purple flower)
- Oenothera 'Ice Cool Rosy' (white flower)
-
Alstroemeria psittacina (green seed heads)

In this arrangement we have:
- Anemone 'Frilly Knickers' poking her head out (pink flower with a yellow centre, bottom of photo)
- Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum' (purple thistle)
- Vernonia noveboracensis (purple fluffy-headed flower, bottom left of Anemone 'Frilly Knickers')
- Doellingaria (white, starry, aster-like flower, centre)
- Heuchera villosa (yellow flower, right)
