Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna'

Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’ carries spikes of striking violet-blue flowers on purple-black stems above sage-scented, oval green leaves — the dark stems adding depth and intensity to the flowers. It flowers prolifically from early summer through to autumn.

Well suited to underplanting roses and to naturalistic planting schemes, it combines beautifully with grasses such as Anemanthele lessoniana or Stipa tenuissima, and associates well with bright reds, oranges, and lime greens. Its nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees. Once established, it is drought tolerant; it performs best in light, moderately fertile, moist but free-draining soil in full sun, though it will tolerate partial shade.
