Penstemon ‘King George V’ bears very large, scarlet, bell-shaped flowers with white throats marked by maroon stripes from summer into autumn. Glossy green leaves clothe the stems beneath the flowers.
Its vivid scarlet blooms suit hot-coloured borders, and it also works well in containers.
Hardiness: H3 (−5°C to 1°C). Half-hardy, suited to mild, sheltered gardens. Protect from early frosts and provide winter protection in colder areas.

Care Guide:
Deadhead regularly to encourage further flowering. Leave the top growth in place over winter to help protect the crown, then cut back hard in spring after the last frosts. Take soft-tip cuttings in early summer or semi-ripe cuttings in midsummer as insurance against winter losses.
