Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Penstemon ‘Stapleford Gem’ bears pale blue, lilac-tinted trumpet-shaped flowers throughout summer. Each has a white throat traced with dark purple veins, giving the blooms their distinctive markings.
Narrow green leaves clothe the stems of this bushy, semi-evergreen perennial. Its long flowering season makes it useful for summer colour in smaller borders.
Hardiness: H4 (−10°C to −5°C). Hardy through most UK winters. Provide winter protection in colder inland, upland or northern gardens; plants in pots are more vulnerable to frost.

Care Guide:
Deadhead regularly to encourage further flowering. Leave the top growth in place over winter to help protect the crown, then cut back hard in spring after the last frosts. Take soft-tip cuttings in early summer or semi-ripe cuttings in midsummer as insurance against winter losses.
