This bushy perennial bears trumpet-shaped blooms throughout summer in a delightful pale blue with hints of lilac, with a white throat laced with dark purple veins. Narrow, linear, semi-evergreen green leaves cover the stems beneath the flowers.
'Stapleford Gem' is loved by bees and other pollinators. Penstemons prefer a fertile, moisture-retentive, free-draining soil in a sunny spot. Deadhead fading flowers to encourage further blooms, and cut back in spring after the last frosts have passed. Perfect for small gardens, Penstemons provide colour over a long period and really earn their space in the border.
