Collection: Baptisia

Family Fabaceae

Baptisia — False Indigo or False Lupin — is a long-lived, clump-forming prairie perennial native to eastern and southern North America. Erect spikes of pea-like flowers in a wide colour range appear in late spring to early summer, followed by ornamental inflated seed pods that blacken and persist through winter. Deep-rooted and drought tolerant once established; thrives in full sun and neutral to acidic, free-draining soil.
