Briza — Quaking Grass — is a genus of annual and perennial grasses native to Britain, Europe, Asia, and South America, forming dense tufts of linear leaves topped with open panicles of nodding, heart-shaped spikelets on slender, wiry stems. The spikelets tremble in the slightest breeze — a quality that gives the genus its common name and makes it one of the most charming and distinctive of all ornamental grasses.

Flowering in late spring and early summer, Briza is easy to grow in an open, sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil. A reliable and undemanding plant that establishes quickly and rewards with months of movement and interest.

Excellent for cutting and drying, the seed heads retain their form and colour beautifully. A natural fit for meadow, gravel, and cottage garden planting. Combines well with Salvia, Echinacea, Achillea, and Stipa.
