Helleborus × hybridus 'Luisa' (ViV Series) is a richly coloured double hellebore, bearing large, deep purple blooms that surround a contrasting yellow centre — reminiscent in character of a small peony. It prefers a partially shaded position in humus-rich soil and will tolerate alkaline conditions.
Flowering from January to March, 'Luisa' is an outstanding choice for winter interest. Its nectar-rich flowers are a valuable early resource for winter insects and pollinators. It combines well with other early-season plants such as Galanthus, Ipheion 'Alberto Castillo', Helleborus 'Amalia', and white cyclamen.

Care Guide
Remove any damaged or diseased leaves in autumn. As flower buds begin to develop — typically from late December — remove the remaining foliage entirely. This improves the display and helps prevent hellebore leaf spot. Mulch around the base with organic matter after removing the leaves. In spring, remove the old flowering stems.
