Helleborus × hybridus ‘Luisa’ (ViV Series) is a richly coloured double hellebore, bearing large, deep purple blooms that surround a contrasting yellow centre — reminiscent in character of a small peony. It prefers a partially shaded position in humus-rich soil and will tolerate alkaline conditions.
As a sterile hellebore, it channels its energy into a long-lasting floral display rather than seed production, making it an outstanding choice for winter interest. Its nectar-rich flowers are a valuable early resource for winter insects and pollinators. It combines well with other early-season plants such as Galanthus, Ipheion ‘Alberto Castillo’, Helleborus ‘Amalia’, and white cyclamen.
