Angelica gigas

Angelica gigas is a striking biennial that earns its place at the middle or back of a border, producing large, spherical ruby-red flower heads on elegant dark-red stems above deeply cut green leaves in late summer. Highly attractive to a wide range of pollinators.

As a biennial, it produces basal growth in its first year before flowering in the second, after which the plant sets seed and dies — so allow it to self-sow freely for a continuous succession.
