Potentilla × hopwoodiana is a herbaceous cinquefoil first recorded in 1829 and still one of the most elegant of its kind. Its saucer-shaped flowers are a soft blend of pale apricot-pink, produced freely through summer above clumps of attractively veined, mid-green foliage.
Unfussy as to soil type, it performs well in sun or dappled shade and is a reliable long-season perennial for borders and cottage gardens.
