100% Peat Free Pollinator Friendly

Symphyotrichum turbinellum 'Leaflet' is a late-season prairie aster and one of the most reliably floriferous of the genus. Its lavender-blue starry flowers begin to open in September against dark, multi-branching stems, building to a hazy crescendo in October — the gentle colour beautifully accentuated by the soft autumn light.

Sharing the open habit and scale of S. turbinellum, 'Leaflet' is distinguished by its finer, more pointed leaves. Its naturalistic character combines beautifully with ornamental grasses such as  Miscanthus and Calamagrostis, and the arching plumes of Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks'. It grows equally well in a sunny or lightly shaded border and is a reliable draw for bees. It prefers a fertile, free-draining soil

  • Care Guide:

Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour — any time after flowering but spring is preferred. Cut back stems after flowering in autumn. Taller selections may require staking. Symphyotrichum novi-belgii cultivars benefit from good air circulation to help prevent mildew.

  • Good to Know

Pollinator-friendly — the flowers attract bees and other pollinators; the central disc turns from yellow to brown once pollinated.

Vigorous and long-lived; clumps bulk up well over time.
