Dahlia ‘Moonfire’ is a compact dwarf Dahlia bearing single flowerheads of yellow-orange petals, tinted red at their base, surrounding a dark red eye ringed with gold. The warm colour combination is beautifully offset by its dark bronze foliage — an unusually rich and tropical-feeling combination.
Well suited to the front of a hot border or a container, it is highly attractive to bees and butterflies. It performs best in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun. In colder areas, lift, dry, and store tubers frost-free once autumn frosts have blackened the foliage; in milder areas, tubers can be left in the ground with the crown protected by a mulch.
