Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Valeriana officinalis ssp. sambucifolia — Elder-Leaved Valerian — is a tall, clump-forming perennial that throws up slender stems carrying flattened flowerheads of pale pink, highly fragrant blooms in early summer.
A statuesque herbaceous perennial that adds elegant height to borders. It thrives in full sun in any reasonably fertile soil and is an excellent plant for pollinators. Valeriana self-seeds freely — remove the flowerheads as they fade if you’d prefer to keep it in check, or leave them to naturalise.
