Echinacea purpurea 'Magnus'
Height x Spread: 100cm x 50cm
'Magnus' is a 'go-to' Echinacea for its looks and reliability. In late summer when elements of your garden may be beginning to slow down, it is just getting started. From early July into September it puts on a successive display of large deep-pink single daisies each set off by a prominent copper orange centre. Held horizontally on stiff upright stems beaming up at the sky, they not only provide a punchy injection of colour but also an interesting contrast of form against vertical ornamental grasses and flower spikes.
An ideal candidate for a wildlife garden, its nectar-rich blooms initially attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators in their droves, followed by the birds for its seed heads, make room for it too in your cutting garden. Used fresh or dried, it adds interest to any arrangement. It thrives in full sun or dappled shade in a free-draining soil.
