Koenigia × fennica 'Johanniswolke'
Height x Spread: 200cm x 150cm
Highly valued for its lofty late summer display of soft white flower spikes like feathery plumes above bushy semi-evergreen foliage, this Koenigia is capable of adding architectural impact to a larger garden. The reddish-pink seed heads that follow in autumn are just as attractive.
Formerly called Persicaria polymorpha, this Himalayan native thrives in a moist soil in either full sun or part shade, happily and quickly bulking up. It makes a very attractive and dense hedge, but is also ideal for the back of border, given sufficient space. For striking plant combinations try Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum', Inula magnifica or Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Firetail'.
Synonyms: Persicaria polymorpha, Persicaria alpina
