Salvia argentea

Commonly known as Silver Sage, this striking biennial forms large rosettes of soft, furry, silver foliage, above which tall stems bear white hooded flowers with delicately pink-tinged lower lips.

More widely grown for its remarkable tactile foliage than its flowers, it is a superb candidate for a gravel garden or Mediterranean-style planting scheme. As a biennial, allow the flowerheads to set seed to ensure it perpetuates itself in the garden. It thrives in light, fairly fertile, free-draining soil in full sun.
