Rounded pinnate leaves form an attractive mound of fresh green foliage. Arching stems bear gorgeous pea-like blooms with maroon standards and a lilac keel, during spring.
Beds and borders will be given a lift by this delicate yet colourful flower, happy to grow in any good, moist yet free-draining soil in either partial shade or sun. It is a useful plant for open woodland gardens or underplanting shrubs.
All parts of the plant are toxic.
