Sidalcea 'Rose Queen'
Height x Spread: 120cm x 60cm
Upright spikes of vivid, rose-pink flowers with gently fringed petals, are carried high above rounded, mid green basal foliage. This gorgeous form of 'Prairie Mallow' is highly rated for its large, hollyhock-like flowers which will add real delight to the middle of a cottage garden or herbaceous border, flowering for weeks on end during summer. Cutting the first flush of flowers back to the ground, will encourage a second flush.
It can be combined very successfully with ornamental grasses and other perennials to create naturalistic 'prairie type' planting schemes. An excellent cut flower; it grows best in a light, reasonably fertile and humus-rich soil, that is free draining but retains some moisture, in full sun.
