Baptisia 'Solar Flare'
Height x Spread: 75cm x 45cm
This recent Baptisia introduction is rather special, with spikes of delicate pea-like flowers which open vivid lemon yellow up the stems, before fading to deep orange producing a delicious multi-tonal effect.
This eye-catching display lasts from late spring through midsummer after which the distinctive seedpods for which Baptisia is known develop. Definitely avoid cutting these down at the end of the season as they add structure and interest to your winter garden, plus feed the birds. Compact and clump-forming, 'Solar Flare' performs best in a good, well-drained soil in a sunny site.
