Actaea arizonica

This rhizomatous herbaceous perennial comes from Arizona in the US and is found in coniferous forests in damp and shady areas up to 5300 – 7000ft. Beloved of Bumblebees in particular, the flowers are creamy white and have a bottlebrush like appearance. The light green leaves are deeply cut and spaced along the tall upright stems and also as a crown at the base.

Flowering from July and August and endangered in the wild, it needs sheltered, humid conditions and rich fertile soil to thrive, a  shady, sheltered site and yearly mulching would be ideal.
