Ageratina ligustrina is a compact, medium-sized evergreen shrub bearing light green, ovate leaves throughout the year. Native to Mexico and Costa Rica, it produces large, flat heads of small white, slightly fragrant flowers in autumn — a welcome late-season display when much else has finished.
It thrives in well-drained soil in full sun or light shade, in a sheltered position with protection from cold, drying winds. Roots benefit from a dry mulch over winter. Naturally salt-tolerant, it is also a good choice for coastal gardens.
