Ageratum petiolatum is a summer-flowering perennial that produces masses of fluffy lilac flowers in profusion from summer right through until the first frosts. Its branching habit works beautifully in mixed borders, combining well with soft and tawny oranges, yellows, blues and purples. Also excellent in containers.
It needs fertile, well-drained soil. Not fully hardy — protect through winter in a cold frame or cool greenhouse, or take cuttings as insurance. H2: tolerant of low temperatures, but not surviving being frozen (1 to 5°C).
