Ageratum petiolatum

This summer flowering perennial produces masses of fluffy, lilac flowers in profusion up until the first frosts.  It has a branching habit and goes well in mixed borders, where it combines beautifully with soft and tawny oranges, yellows, blues and purples.

Protection through the winter in a cold frame or cold greenhouse is recommended, or alternatively take some cuttings.  Needs a fertile soil with good drainage.

H2: tolerant of low temperatures, but not surviving being frozen (1 to 5)
